[pdx] The Ice Trees We Grow In Portlandia

3025.
The Mighty MultCoLib wasn't open over the weekend (smart move, but dang!) but we did go by the Mighty Midland to return some books

You don't see trees like this in Oregon very often:

Ice: it's a bumper crop in Portland this season.

What a beautiful, surreal photo. Almost like a diorama or something.

Yes, I was pleased myself. Really mastering my Power-Shot …

There's a setting that allows you to take night photos w/o a tripod. The way it apparently works is to take three or four shots and combine them. Wiggle the camera just right and the surrounds go into a short of gentle blur, kind of like the blur you get in tilt-shift that fools your mind into thinking you're looking at a miniature shot.

Of course, the quality of the atmosphere that night was something ineffable and marvellous.

Huh. I thought they were just using shutter and exposure settings. If there's more complex trickery going on in those scene modes I'm going to have to give them some attention.
