2307.I've been keeping a keen eye out for the blades going up to begin the evolution over on 39th Avenue to remake it over to SE/NE Cesar E Chavez Blvd.
Whether you like it or now, it's going to be part of city history now. The warp and the woof.
You know what would be keener than the eye I'm keeping out for them? If I could somehow be the first Portlander to get a picture of the first new CECB blade going up. I heard there was one over by SE 39th and Belmont or Taylor or somesuch, but no joy there.
Anybody know?
Anybody heard anything?
Just saying.
Just -ah- throwin' that one out there.

Cesar E Chavez Blvd? Why did they include the middle initial, I wonder?
To be consistent with its former name, Thirt E. Ninth?
MEDIA ADVISORY: Chavez Blvd. sign to be unveiled Friday
WHAT
The first street sign to be installed on newly renamed Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard will be treated to a public commemoration and unveiling. A celebration featuring Portland officials and members of the community will honor both Cesar Chavez and the City of Portland’s street renaming process.
WHO
Mayor Sam Adams, Commissioner Amanda Fritz and members of the renaming committee and 39th Avenue community will speak and help unveil the new sign in public.
WHEN
Friday, January 29, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
WHERE
The program will be held at Central Christian Church, 1844 SE 39th Ave. / SE Cesar E. Chavez Blvd., Portland, OR 97214. The street sign unveiling will be at the signpost on the east side of the SE 39th/Chavez Blvd. and SE Stephens intersection, next to the bus stop and church parking lot.
Alan, you rock and rule, my friend. I am going to have to try and be there.
Ben Lukoff: I don't know why they insist on the full name either; after all, when they renamed Front Avenue, they didn't rename it "Bill Naito Parkway".
In the lee of not having a good answer to that question, me and this blog's official position will be that of Stan's (the reply immediately following yours), which has the benefit of being punny, witty, and funny.
