The really wierd thing about that big Empire Rubber Co. Fire yesterday, down at SE Water Avenue and Salmon Street, is that we went through there not an hour before it broke out. Off I-5 at the Water Ave/I-84 ramp and then left up Water to SE Stark Street to get to the Office Depot over on MLK to get some business done.
We did pass through there later that night, about 21:30. Still smelled like burned rubber, the Fire Bureau was still there, and all the big TV newsers were warming up the satellite trucks.
