[liff] Seattle Sign, Properly Punctuated, With Attitude

1622.

Thank you to all the BoingBoingers who's stopped by. This modest piece isn't my best work, however; I like mashing up signs with words that don't belong there. Might I also recommend this sequence of images, which I understand, are quite guffaw-inducing?

The picture herein was ripped off of Boing Boing because the article's author suggested the punctuation, which I added.

The sign is located along the Lake Washington Ship Canal in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, and is apparently in an effort to prevent it from becoming the Lake Washington "Schmit" Canal.

The original article and photo is here; I added the punctuation and the more attitudinally-appropriate punishment. Just imagine a record-shop employee with hipster-glasses writing you the ticket.

Hehe, and I just found this post, too. Thought you might appreciate each other (I commented on his post to come over here).

And in case you didn't see my comment on Quark vs. InDesign, I totally didn't know you wrote for that site! Wow! (and now I'm very much hoping it's not just a coincidence in the name)

That's fantastic and I'm so grateful. My little ol' blog, she need all the help she can get!

Yes, that is, as a matter of fact, me. Sadly, my writing has fallen way off; Quark isn't that generous with demo stuff, and my equipment is a little behind the curve (Power Mac G4) and I need an upgrade badly, but the work just isn't coming in right now. But I am proud of what I've done there, and also at Designorati.com; and hey, Creative Pro featured one of my articles on Quark 6 PDF output two times, so that's something right there.

Thanks so much ... this brightened my day!

Aw, you're welcome Samuel! I hope work picks up for you.

You know... I just have to get my little plug for PCs in here. You could probably get a PC that is just as good if not better than the hottest Mac for at least half the price. All the programs are cross-platform now, so it really doesn't matter what you work on. Unless it's a status thing, of course ;)

I often sit in traffic behind a bus that bears the sign: One Man Operated Bus.

This too could be punctuated in several different ways. I like to think of it as a rather indignant newspaper headline, bemoaning cuts in the public transport budget.

'One Man Operated Bus! Union officals call for strike action...'
