1695.

The "missing" 13th floor.

Big Pink has one:

Y'alls see any gaps in there?

Now, c'mon you people ... yes, you people on the 14th floor?

You know you're on the 13th floor.

Good point. 13 is just a number. I f you want a number that might really mean something look up 23. That one freaks me out a little.

Moreover, just calling the 13th floor the 14th floor doesn't magically cause it not to be 13 decks up.

It's like if you call Cthulhu "Dave" ... well, he's still Cthulhu.

As far as the number 23, as a practicing-til-I-get-it-right Discordian, I'm not surprised at all about it. It all descends from the Law of Fives, since 2+3=5.

The Law states:

All things happen in fives, or are divisible by or are multiples of five, or are somehow directly or indirectly appropriate to 5

So it's indirectly appropriate to 5, being the sum of 2 and 3.

The Law of Fives is everywhere and always true; as Lord Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst himself said:

I find the Law of Fives to be more and more manifest the harder I look.

Well it would hardly show up if he didn't look hard.
Anyway good point on the Cthulhu/Dave thing, I didn't actually think of that.
I think i heard of that 5 thing somewhere before...
